Concerned onlooker: “What type of hair is that?!”
Nixx: “It’s my natural hair”
Concerned onlooker: “Your real hair?!”
Nixx: “Yes, from my scalp”
This is a conversation I have daily!
Hello Beauty Vibers!
Every day people come up to me and ask me about my hair, so for all of you who have been asking, here are some of my favourite products for cleansing, conditioning, moisturising and defining my curls!
Cleansing:
So, I know you might not be able to believe this, but, I don’t always use shampoo when I wash my hair. Yes, I’m serious. However, when I do use shampoo, I use it to cleanse my scalp of build-up so my cleanser has to do a good job at cleansing my scalp while moisturizing. Two of my favourite shampoos are the Kumea’s Hair Perspective Strawberry Curls Shampoo and the Nature’s Pure Black Soap shampoo, these products do a great job of getting my scalp clean without drying my hair out. The best part? They’re both made in Jamaican!
Conditioning:
Because I don’t always shampoo, I often opt for a really moisturising conditioner between cleansing

Shea Moisture Coconut & Hibiscus Curl & Shine Conditioner and Shea Moisture Superfruit Complex 10-in-1 Renewal System
with a shampoo. My hair has a tendency to get dry, so whenever I feel like my hair needs some love, I “wash” my hair with the Aussie Moist conditioner. This is one thing I cannot do without and I refuse to run out! If I’m not using my Aussie Moist, I reach for the Shea Moisture Coconut and Hibiscus Curl and Shine Conditioner, another amazing conditioner which definitely gets the job done.
My next step is usually to deep condition and my favourites are from the Shea Moisture brand. Their deep conditioners are absolutely amazing! The one I am currently using is their 10-in-1 Renewal System Hair Masque. It hydrates, softens and leaves my hair very shiny! It is definitely a must-have!
Moisturising:
This is definitely where my greatest issue lies, but I’m gonna share my secret with you: Nature’s Pure Kurly Kurls Kurl Kustard. This product not only moisturises my hair, but it also gives me great definition, always making my curls pop!
After applying the Kurly Kurls Kurl Kustard (can you say that five times fast?), I apply the Nature’s Pure Cold Pressed Organic Coconut oil and then the Eco Styler Gel, that’s only if I want more defined curls and to slick down my edge, my favourites are the Olive Oil and Argan Oil, and that’s it for products.
To make my curls pop even more, I shake my head side to side and up and down to clump my curls together, leaving me with beautiful, “wig-looking” curls.
These are just a few tips and products that can make a big difference in your hair!
Lickle more!
– Nixx
