So you’ve decided to take the plunge. You’re not sure what the results will be, but you’ve decided to give it a try regardless. Not ready to jump in? Maybe you should transition?
Hello Beauty Vibers,
Transitioning or doing the big chop is really just your preference.
About 3 years ago I decided to embrace my natural hair, whether it was wavy, curly, kinky; whatever it was, I was going to embrace it because I was tired of going to the hair salon to get burnt by chemicals just to alter the hair I was born with. So, I decided that I was going to grow my hair out and when it was a good length, I’d chop the relaxed ends off.
So partway into this journey, I realized that this was way too much work. It was exhausting working with natural hair at my roots and then relaxed at the ends, it was difficult getting combs to pass through and honestly, I just couldn’t do it; I wasn’t patient enough. So one day, I went to the hair salon and I told them to just cut it off.
I was nervous, I was excited, I was scared and so many more emotions!
As she went through and cut my hair off I wondered, what am I going to look like, I’ve never had short hair before… Then it was almost done. There was just a little bit of straight hair left at the front and while I was looking at a new me, she cut it off and that was it!
Two years and a couple months later, here I am with a huge head of hair that cannot be missed. I do not regret chopping my hair off, it probably was the best thing for me to do.
This was my journey, feel free to share yours in the comment section below.
