Enhance your curls with Eco Styler Gel

Hair - Nixx Woolery - July 19, 2016

Eco Styler Gel is one of my go to hair products! It is inexpensive and does a great job at defining my curls! There are various Eco Styler Gel types; my favourites are the Argan Oil, Olive Oil and Krystal; there’s also the one for colour treated hair, the sport and the protein gel.

The argan oil tends to have a softer hold, the olive oil has a firmer hold and krystal has a very strong hold. You can apply a moisturizer, leave-in or oil before applying the gel; whatever makes your hair happy. From my experience, the more gel I apply, the crunchier my hair is. If you don’t want the crunch, apply a moisturizer or some coconut oil before applying the gel. You’re preference. You really have to just experiment until you find what works for you.

I like to use the Kinky Curly Knot today as my leave-in before applying the Eco Styler gel to my hair as it tames my frizz and moisturizes my hair, allowing the Eco Styler gel to properly coat my strands, leaving my hair looking amazing with great definition.

I section my hair into 4 and decide where I want my part, if  I decide that I want one that day and then divide each section into two. I then apply a pea size amount of the leave-in conditioner and then a generous amount of Eco Styler to my hair, raking the product through to make sure all my strands are coated. I like my hair to hang, so doing this slightly elongates my curls. If you prefer your hair to be a bit puffy, go ahead and apply less gel so you will achieve less hold. So more gel, more hold and also some crunch.

I continue this throughout my head until all my hair is done, then I shake my head side to side and front and back to clump my curls together and separate them at the same time giving me great definition. If you’re in a rush, you can stop here. I’m not really fond of my hair dripping all over my clothes, so I like to put a cotton t-shirt on my hair to soak up some of the water and extra product while I get ready. After about 30 mins, I take the t-shirt off my hair and shake, shake, shake; fix my hair the way I like it and then I’m ready to go!

I like to use the Eco Styler gel for my Wash and Go but I also use the gel for puffs, twist outs and just to make my edges sleek whenever I pull my hair up or back.
