Many of us suffer from acne or have acne prone skin. Though I never had bad acne, as a teen I had breakouts and I still get a few every now and then. Summer is coming up and during these hot summer months I prefer to cut down on the makeup and show off my skin, but in order to do that, I like to make sure that my skin and I are getting along.

There are several steps I take to ensure that my skin is free from pimples, bumps, blackheads and other unwanted visitors. Today I’ll be sharing with you my remedy for clear skin.

There are so many cleansers for different skin types and purposes. So, it is important that you are aware of your skin’s needs before choosing a cleanser. If your skin is dry and sensitive, you’ll want a gentle cream cleanser. If you have oily skin, your cleanser should be formulated to control your oil without drying your skin out. For  acne-prone skin, a cleanser that fights acne causing bacteria with salicylic acid may work best for you. I have been using Bioré products since 2012 and I absolutely love their cleansers. I use them after removing makeup and they leave my skin feeling clean and fresh!

After using a cleanser there may still be dirt or makeup remaining on your skin, so a good wipe with a toner gets those lingering particles off your face. My favourite toner at the moment is the Irie Rock Tea Tree and Witch Hazel toner. I absolutely love this product! Whenever I get a little pimple, I put the toner on it over night and by morning the size has reduced and there is no redness. This toner is extremely refreshing and is definitely great for acne prone skin. I recommend this product to all my friends and family members because it has worked wonders for me!

I have been using the Neutrogena Hydro Boost water gel for about two months now and this moisturizer is amazing! It leaves my skin looking  and feeling hydrated and healthy. Another great moisturiser is from Irie Rock, their Tea Tree and Witch Hazel combination moisturiser moisturises  while getting preventing unwanted skin visitors. When these visitors do show up, we try to get rid of them and the worst thing to do is to squeeze them away, because then, we’re left with dark spots which, personally, I absolutely hate, but have no fear! The Ari Fade Cream helps to get rid of these dark spots. Put just a little of this product, only on the dark spots, at nights. Just a little of this product goes a long way, so don’t go over board!

It is extremely important to protect your skin when recovering from acne scars as sun exposure can cause these already dark scars to become darker. The Neutrogena Oil- Free Moisturiser with SPF 35 is great as the sunscreen protects your skin against the sun’s rays.

I’m back again with another Irie Rock product, I truly do love them. The Tea Tree and Witch Hazel Scrub is… amazing! The scrubbing component gets rid of dirt and dead skin cells, opening up the pores; while the tea tree oil and witch hazel get rid of acne and acne-causing bacteria. I use this scrub three times per week and whenever I feel like I need to scrub the day away. I have also found that I have little to no blackheads or whiteheads which I believe is a result of my commitment to this scrub.
