People either come up to me and ask me whether my hair is real, comment on how huge it is and often they ask me what products I use, how I get my hair to curl, how I maintain my curl and how I get my hair to look the way it is.
Hello Beauty Vibers,
The answer to many of those questions is that’s just how my hair grows. But for the other questions, I will tell you that it is very important to stick to a healthy hair regimen.
My hair regimen contains the following steps:
- Shampoo
- Conditioner
- Deep conditioner
- Leave-In conditioner
- Creamy moisturizer
- Gel (If i’m doing a wash and go)
- Oil
Consistency is key with any regimen.
It is absolutely important to keep your hair moisturized applying a moisturizer daily. Consistently moisturizing your strands will help in growth retention, so if hair growth is your goal, keep your ends moisturized so that they don’t get brittle and break off.
I like to use a deep conditioner every time I shampoo to ensure moisture is restored to my hair. I usually leave my deep conditioner on, anywhere from 30 mins to a day, even though it is often said that leaving the deep conditioner on your hair for hours will have the same results as leaving it on for 45 mins.
An additional step I like to take is to massage my scalp nightly with the Alikay Naturals Essential 17 Hair Growth Oil.
Sticking to a regimen and doing it right will result in healthy hair and hair growth.
Products
Finding the right products for your hair may be a tedious task, but once you find the products that work for you, you’ll start seeing the results! Using the right products is one thing, but you don’t want your regimen to contain too many products, which will be quite expensive and may end up harming, rather than helping your hair in the long run. Find the products that work for you and stick to them. If like me, you have more than one of each product that works for you that your hair loves, then switch it up sometimes, but it is very important that your hair likes the product because then, your hair will thrive.
Protection
Protective styling is always a good thing when you’re doing it right. I like to do a protective style as much as I can, sometimes I alternate between protective styles and my regular wash n go. Protective styling does not have to be installing braids or other time consuming styles. I like to put my hair in buns to protect the ends and I’ll take the bun down and moisturize my hair to ensure it doesn’t get dry. Putting in braids, such as cornrows or dutch braids are also quick and easy styles you can use to protect your hair between washes.
Another thing I like to do to keep my hair moisturized is to co-wash my hair in the week, if I can find the time. I’ll use a conditioner on my hair, my favourites are Aussie Moist and Shea Moisture and I’ll just add some leave-in, moisturizer and a little oil before putting my hair into a protective style and wear that for the rest of the week.
These are just a few tips that you can use for your hair growth journey or just to keep your hair healthy.
Let me know what you do to keep your hair feeling and looking great.
Later,
Nixx
